Beaches and Nature
Austinmer, a popular summer beach resort located at the foot of the Illawarra escarpment, is frequently crowded with swimmers and sunbathers on weekends.
The suburb of Austinmer is an excellent place for a day trip from Sydney because it is close to the train station and the ocean. You can alternatively take a picturesque route from Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive, which will take you right to Austinmer.
Visit the Headlands Hotel Austinmer around the point for a delicious meal and a breathtaking view, or stay in one of their gorgeous one or two-bedroom apartments to make a trip out of it.
Located at the southernmost point of a two-kilometre stretch of sand, Bellambi Beach is bordered by a reserve and offers views of distant mountains. With a boat ramp and a small harbour close by, the beach is very well-liked for fishing. It may be reached through the Wollongong shared cycleway.
Seven kilometres to the north of Wollongong’s CBD is where you’ll find Bellambi. With a rock pool on the southern rocks, Bellambi Beach continues south to the stream mouth and point.
At some periods, Bellambi Beach is a dog-friendly location. Depending on the season, there is a time-sharing zone where dogs are allowed on the beach at specific times.
Bass Point Reserve, a 72-hectare coastal gem south of Shellharbour Village, is home to one of the Illawarra’s remaining littoral rainforest sections.
The reserve is designated on the Australian Heritage Commission register for both its Aboriginal and European Values and is acknowledged as one of the most significant archaeological sites on the NSW coast.
The rich marine ecosystem at Bass Point, a well-liked destination for scuba diving and snorkelling at Bushranger’s Bay, a protected aquatic reserve, is what makes it a popular recreational reserve today.

At the end of the reservation process, you will receive a “Reservation Confirmation” page with the reservation number highlighted. You will also receive a confirmation email containing the details of your reservation and collection procedure.
Extending the rental duration is possible at time of check out or during the rental itself. You will need to contact or come in person to the nearest location. The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment.

Yes, however, the person with the credit card must be on the Rental Contract as the main driver so they will need to have a current open driver’s licence written in English.
Alpha Car Hire Australia Pty Ltd reserves the right to charge a minimum cancellation fee of $50 if 7 or more days’ notice is provided prior to the day of collection. It is at Alpha Car Hire Australia Pty Ltd’s discretion to charge up to 50% of the rental cost if less than 7 days’ notice is given.
If the vehicle is returned up to 1 hour late, one-third of the rental will be charged. If it is returned beyond two hours late, two-thirds of the rental will be charged. If returned three hours late or more, a full day’s rental is charged.

All vehicles are covered with 24-hour roadside assistance, provided by the relevant state automotive club. This includes all mechanical breakdowns. Roadside Assistance does not cover non-mechanical defects such as lost keys, keys locked in the vehicle, flat battery due to lights being left on etc. Costs charged can be obtained by contacting Customer Service on 1300 227 473.
All Alpha vehicles which are rented have comprehensive insurance with a standard liability that is applicable to renters that may be reduced with one of Alpha’s waiver options. For passenger vehicles (hatchbacks, sedans, family cars, SUVs, 8-seater vans and Utes) the standard liability is $4,400 for drivers over 21 years of age. My partner and I rented a car for five day in our stay in the Gold Coast and the price was really good and affordable. The process to pick up and dropp off the car were also really fast and easy, and the car that they gave us was beautiful and really easy to drive!Gonna choose Alpha Car next time for sure! =)
Edited: changing from1 star to 4 because despite the email support being next to nothing - when I picked up second car and the aircon didn’t work consistently I called and explained the intermittent problems and water dripping on my feet and they replaced it the same day. Did waste a half day for me driving there and back but they fixed the problem and that’s most importantI have one positive. The airport shuttle driver was fabulous. But that’s about where it stops.- online communication is extremely poor- car was filthy- car was not full of petrolDespite making contact 3 times about the state of the car and fuel my messages have been ignored. I have left the car far cleaner than when I received it so if their cleaning fee is charged I’ll be annoyed- the warnings about the cleaning fee are quite intense and definitely makes one feel paranoid and unable to enjoy their journeys.Price was okay. Until I extended by 15 hours or so and then completely unreasonable for a car I had had to get up to an acceptable cleaning level of my first day.Photos only a few examples. Unfortunate that I picked the car up in the dark so didn’t see til the morning. On my hire next week I’ll be looking closer for sure.Do not tell me that this is not the ALPHA way and the next customer will benefit. I’d like to know how I will be compensated. And clearly the next customer won’t benefit as I haven’t benefited from all the previous comments with similar complaints.
Customer service is good. Picking up and returning of the car is hassle free. Car is relatively new and well maintained. Price is cheaper compared to other established companies. Shuttle service is efficient. Will definitely recommend to friends and families. Rented from 9th Dec toc 2023.
The airport shuttle was efficient. There’s a free public phone at the international airport that you can use to call for it, and we waited about 10 minutes. The purple buses are easy to spot. When we returned the car at the end of the hire the shuttle went straight away.The car was a fairly basic model with 48k km on the clock but it did the job, and was clean and in good condition. Good value. I would use them again.
Good cars, excellent variety and keen rates. Easy website booking. Airport pick up and drop off very good. Good people to deal with. I’ve used these guys twice and will continue on every Brisbane visit.
First time hire with Alpha and I must say it was great. Much better value than other hire companies. Was reticent about the off airport location but the shuttle was easy, virtually no waiting and drivers friendly and polite. Check-in and drop off very easy as well. Again, staff were great. Car clean and no problems.
I used Alpha 10 years back when they had just started out and loved their service back then, so when it came time to hire another car in Brisbane I sought them out. Super pleased to see their great work has paid off and they are now a massive company but have retained the small company service and vibe. Super friendly staff from the shuttle drivers, to front desk and phones. 0800 is answered quickly unlike others. Nice vehicles and great price. Will be back for sure.
Great experience renting a truck (both times). In both cases - clean interior, runs well. Hydraulic lift, A/C, cruise control were in good working order. Booked and paid online, no hassle pickup and drop off, friendly staff. Also, great price on truck rental, looks like the best in the city. Don't forget to fill that tank when returning the vehicle.
The business is located in the perfect spot in Hendra and there is a service station only metres away, making it super easy to refuel just before returning the car. The staff are quick, friendly and efficient. The car I had was relatively new and in excellent condition (although it did need a more thorough clean, which could be due to my last minute booking). The shuttle bus runs regularly and the driver was extremely helpful and considerate. Overall, I was very happy with every aspect of my first experience with them. It won't be my last!
