Can I check rates without making a reservation?

You may request a quotation and check availability without making a reservation. Complete only the first pages of the rates and reservations process. If you wish to make a reservation at this time and with these details, simply continue by pressing the “Book Now” Button.

How will I know my reservation is confirmed?

At the end of the reservation process, you will receive a “Reservation Confirmation” page with the reservation number highlighted. You will also receive a confirmation email containing the details of your reservation and collection procedure.

Can I extend the rental duration?

Extending the rental duration is possible at the time of check out or during the rental itself. You will need to contact or come in person to the nearest location. The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment.

Is it possible to cancel or modify my reservation once it is confirmed?

Yes, it is. Please contact our Reservations Staff, and they will be more than happy to help. 1300 227 473 or NZ 0800 445 492

Can I pay for my reservation online?

Yes, you can. When you complete your reservation, select Pay Now to process your payment on the spot.

Do you offer long term rental options?

Yes, Alpha Car Hire offers medium and long-term hire agreements. These are costed on a case-by-case basis. Please call 1300 227 473 for a quote on a long-term hire.

Can I use another persons Credit Card to pay for my rental?

Yes, however, the person with the credit card must be on the Rental Contract as the main driver, so they will need to have a current open driver's licence written in English.

Do we charge cancellation Fees?

Alpha Car Hire Trading Pty Ltd reserves the right to charge a minimum cancellation fee of $75 if cancelling within 72 hours of collection.

What happens if I return the vehicle late?

If the vehicle is returned up to 1 hour late, one-third of the rental will be charged. If it is returned greater than two hours late, two-thirds of the rental will be charged, and if returned three hours late or more, then a full day's rental is charged.

In the event of an accident what am I liable to pay?

What methods of payment do Alpha Car Hire accept?

Alpha Car Hire Trading Pty Ltd accepts cash, EFTPOS and most major Credit Cards including Visa, and Mastercard. Alpha Car Hire Australia Pty Ltd does require that the main driver on the vehicle holds a current credit card for bond purposes. Unfortunately, we do not accept Amex or Diners cards.

Do I need to check the condition of the vehicle prior to leaving the keys at the counter?

Yes, and if you found a new apparent defect (not listed on the vehicle statement remitted at the time of pick up) you have to inform the Alpha Car Hire employee for joint examination. You will also receive photos of your vehicle by email upon collection. Please refer to the Alpha Car Hire Fair Wear and Tear Guide.

Can I return the vehicle outside the location operating hours?

Yes, you may return your vehicle when the Alpha Car Hire location is closed if prior arrangements have been made. The vehicle will remain your responsibility until it has been checked by a representative of Alpha Car Hire.

Where can I not drive the rental vehicle?

You may drive an Alpha vehicle in most states and Territories however travel is not permitted into or out of the Northern Territory, Western Australia and Tasmania. Travel to any destination via barge or ferry transport is not permitted. Vehicles cannot be driven on unsealed roads or in snow.

Do I need to have an International Drivers Licence?

If you will not be driving for a period that is longer then three (3) months and you have an International Drivers Licence it will be honored by Australian law. If you plan to stay in Australia for more than three months and intend to drive for that period you are required to obtain an International Drivers Permit.

Can I tow using an Alpha Car Hire Vehicle?

No, an Alpha Car Hire vehicle cannot be used to tow or push anything, this forms part of the rental terms and conditions.

How many free kilometres per day?

Unless otherwise specified, the following FREE Kilometres apply to all passenger vehicle classes: 500 Kilometres free per day Unless otherwise specified, the following FREE Kilometres apply to all commercial Vehicle Classes: 100 Kilometres free per day, or you may negotiate your requirements to suit your needs at the time of booking extra kilometres are charged at 32.5 cents per kilometre.

What age do I have to be to rent a vehicle?

The minimum age for all drivers is 21 on a full licence. Drivers aged 21 to 25 are restricted to a compact or intermediate car. Drivers must be on a full licence, we do not hire to provisional drivers. All Drivers under the age of 25 are subject to an additional daily surcharge of $28 inclusive of GST, this will reduce the standard excess to $1,100

Can anyone other than myself drive the car?

Nobody can drive an Alpha Car Hire Vehicle whose name does not appear on the Rental Agreement. When collecting the vehicle each driver must be listed on the Rental Agreement and they must present their drivers licence at time of collection.

If I lock my keys in the vehicle am I covered by Road Side Assistance?

No, Roadside Assistance does not cover non-mechanical defects such as lost keys, keys locked in the vehicle, flat battery due to lights being left on etc. You can however purchase our Roadside Assistance Cover which will cover you in the event of any non-mechanical callouts

How does Alpha Car Hire protect my personal and credit card information online?

The online reservation service is located on a secure server that guarantees the safety of the transaction. The system uses SSL encrypting technology. SSL works by encrypting all communications between your computer and our server so the information cannot be intercepted.

Do you hire baby capsules?

No we do not hire baby capsules but we have a limited number of forward and rear-facing baby seats and booster seats available upon request

Swimming holes around South Australia

There’s nothing quite like a day at one of Australia’s famous swimming holes, and South Australia has plenty of options for you to try with family and friends. It’s a great way to enjoy a weekend away and enjoy some quality time together. Finding the right swimming hole near is easy. A lot of them are within a four-hour drive, making it an excellent road trip destination. What’s more, they are great places for a day of scuba diving. To give you a better idea of where you can experience this, here are some swimming holes within easy driving distance from Adelaide.

Piccaninnie Ponds Conservation Park

Piccaninnie is more than just a natural pond. The freshwater in the basin eroded a weakness in the limestone, forming The Chasm. Additionally, the same pressure caused The Cathedral to form. Visitors can snorkel down to the pond’s depths and explore a hidden world beneath the surface.

Ewen Ponds Conservation Park

Ewen Ponds consists of three basin-shaped ponds, each with a depth of 10 metres. What’s more, the water’s clarity allows vegetation to grow up to 6 metres deep. It’s a favourite spot for scuba divers and snorkellers alike where there is always something new to discover.

Pool of Siloam

For a different experience, the Pool of Siloam is a great destination. It’s located near the sea and is seven times saltier, making it super buoyant. Additionally, they say that taking a dip in the Pool of Siloam will relieve you of any aches and pains. It’s one of those swimming holes you have to see to believe.

Stokes Bay

Stokes Bay is one of Kangaroo Island’s most popular family destinations. If you visit between October and May, then you can grab a bite to eat at the local campground’s café. Otherwise, you will need to pack your food. You can also make use of the swimming hole’s picnic area and barbecue facilities.

Sellicks Beach

What sets Sellicks Beach apart from other swimming holes is that you can drive up to the beach, park your car, and set up for the day. But you will want to get here early as the best spots on the beach are quick to fill. Swim and enjoy the sun and the day spent with the people you love.

While you’re at any of these swimming holes, be part of its conservation. Avoid littering, and remember to clean up after yourself before you leave. That way, more people can enjoy these places.
