Just this weekend, the world saw the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Later this year, Australians will have a chance to meet the royal couple as they are scheduled to visit the country this October for the 2018 Invictus Games.
The couple revealed their plans to visit Australia last year, shortly after announcing their engagement. During their stay, they will be expected to attend a Polo tournament aside from watching the games.
Prince Harry launched the Invictus Games in 2014 for the benefit of the wounded soldiers of the Commonwealth. He came up with the idea after attending the Warriors Game in the States back in 2013.
During that time, the Prince noticed how sports helped those suffering physically and psychologically, and a year later, the Invictus Games was launched in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London.
This year, the Invictus Games will be held in Sydney, Australia from 20-27 October. The city will play host to 500 competitors along with their families for the event. 11 sports are expected to be performed, with some of the events happening at the Sydney Olympic Park and Sydney Harbour. More details will follow in the coming months.
Catch the royal couple when they come to our shores this year and support the cause of the Invictus Games. As you make your plans for the event, make sure to book a ride from Alpha Car Hire as soon as you can to ensure a smooth drive to the games.
