Gone are the days when you can just bring your date to the pictures for a little bit of spare change, and go to a nice dinner without spending a small fortune. I mean, honestly, do you even remember the last time you brought your date to the cinemas and spent less than $30? Exactly. Whether it’s the movies or wining and dining in Sydney, most “romantic” places are expensive. So what do you do?

The beauty of Sydney, despite it being a posh location, is filled with beautiful, fun places that are either cheap or free. With a little bit of creativity, you’re sure to show such an amazing time that your date won’t even think about how much (or how little) you spent.

An obvious location would be the Royal Botanic Gardens. Look, if it’s romantic enough for over 400 couples to want to get married there, it’s romantic enough for a date. Imagine a peaceful sanctuary with gorgeous flowers, shrubs, and trees, with a spectacular view of the Sydney Opera and Sydney harbour. Add in a picnic blanket, a delicious homemade spread, and a bottle of wine or champagne, and you’re sure to have an amazing time.

Impress your date with how “cultured” you are without spending a single cent at the Art Gallery of NSW. If you’re lucky there’s going to be a mini concert that night.

If you think abotu it, what’s more romantic than holding hands as you both gaze up to millions of twinkling stars? Add in a few cheesy but honest lines of how your date is more breathtaking than even the brightest star and you’re sure to have a unique and lovey-dovey night.

Sossy Wine and Dine For Cheap

Address: 695 Harris Street, Ultimo

Website: http://sydneytafe.edu.au/make-booking/restaurants/apprentice

Phone: 9217 5527

Just because you’re on a budget, doesn’t mean you can’t have that stellar four-course meal. Impress your date with full meals like a delectable dinner of roasted stuffed leg of lamb, a fresh zesty salad, topped off with creamy pannacotta. I see those worried faces, it sounds expensive, doesn’t it? The Apprentice Restaurant is a training ground for the five-star chefs of tomorrow. These student chefs are so good, you won’t believe that your meal is less than $30 per person.

And there you have it! Date ideas that are romantic but on-the-cheap! No matter how constrained your budget is, please — don’t ever bring your date to Maccas. If you do *sigh* let us know in the comments if you had a second date!

If you really want to impress your date, you might want to consider bringing your vehicle or booking a car hire Sydney Airport. That way, you’re free to roam as you please, and you spend more time just chatting away as you bring your date home.
