Perth may be an isolated city, but that doesn’t stop its residents from having fun this Christmas season. In fact, the city transforms itself seemingly overnight just to get into the spirit of the holidays. If you’re visiting Perth during this time of the year, then get ready to take part in the city’s celebrations
Christmas in Perth
The city government along with different organisations and clubs have put together these set of activities and events that will be around the town for most of December until January. If you have kids or are just looking for the perfect romantic Christmas to spend with your SO, then you will have no problem finding the complete holiday celebration.
What better way to start off the holidays than by watching the famous nativity scene. Audiences are encouraged to bring their food, preferably dinner food and their picnic blankets for the show. Enjoy a family meal on the grass as you witness the birth of Christ. The show will be held from December 20 to the 22nd around 7:00 PM with a pre-show at 6:00 PM.
The city decided to try something new this year. They decided to light up the streets with the Christmas Light Trail. With up to 16 installations all over the city, you and your loved ones will love driving through the lights found on streets, laneways, and even parks. Everyone can enjoy these lights as they will remain up from November 17th up until Christmas day.
Christmas in VR
Send your kids to the North Pole! Take your kids to the Imaginarium Virtual Reality Discovery Centre. They can get in on the action and help Santa and the elves prepare for Christmas. Other activities your kids can take on through the magical of VR include riding Santa’s sleigh, and watch amazing 360-videos in their Magical Spherical Cinema.
Carnivals are always a lot of fun for the entire family. And Perth has set up a free Christmas carnival which will be functional from November 25 up until December. Please note that some of the rides in the carnival will have age and height restrictions implemented for the safety of your children and everyone involved.
Christmas Carols at Brookfield Place
What’s Christmas without the familiar carols? Perth residents are in luck because the Peth Symphony Orchestra will be performing live instrumental performances of all your favourite Christmas Carols. They’ll be in the lobby of the Brookfield Place throughout December. So, you can catch them at any time to enjoy some lovely classical carols with the entire family.
Perth has a lot of activities for every member of the family, be it Christmas shopping, picnics, or even listening to carols throughout the town. The best way to check out all these events and more is by driving through the city.
