Beaches and Nature
Austinmer, a popular summer beach resort located at the foot of the Illawarra escarpment, is frequently crowded with swimmers and sunbathers on weekends.
The suburb of Austinmer is an excellent place for a day trip from Sydney because it is close to the train station and the ocean. You can alternatively take a picturesque route from Sydney along the Grand Pacific Drive, which will take you right to Austinmer.
Visit the Headlands Hotel Austinmer around the point for a delicious meal and a breathtaking view, or stay in one of their gorgeous one or two-bedroom apartments to make a trip out of it.
Located at the southernmost point of a two-kilometre stretch of sand, Bellambi Beach is bordered by a reserve and offers views of distant mountains. With a boat ramp and a small harbour close by, the beach is very well-liked for fishing. It may be reached through the Wollongong shared cycleway.
Seven kilometres to the north of Wollongong’s CBD is where you’ll find Bellambi. With a rock pool on the southern rocks, Bellambi Beach continues south to the stream mouth and point.
At some periods, Bellambi Beach is a dog-friendly location. Depending on the season, there is a time-sharing zone where dogs are allowed on the beach at specific times.
Bass Point Reserve, a 72-hectare coastal gem south of Shellharbour Village, is home to one of the Illawarra’s remaining littoral rainforest sections.
The reserve is designated on the Australian Heritage Commission register for both its Aboriginal and European Values and is acknowledged as one of the most significant archaeological sites on the NSW coast.
The rich marine ecosystem at Bass Point, a well-liked destination for scuba diving and snorkelling at Bushranger’s Bay, a protected aquatic reserve, is what makes it a popular recreational reserve today.

Can I check the rates without making a reservation?
How will I know my reservation is confirmed?
Can I extend the rental duration?
Extending the rental duration is possible at time of check out or during the rental itself. You will need to contact or come in person to the nearest location. The extension is subject to vehicle availability and extra payment.
Is it possible to cancel or modify my reservation once it is confirmed?

Can I use another person’s Credit Card to pay for my rental?
Yes, however, the person with the credit card must be on the Rental Contract as the main driver so they will need to have a current open driver’s licence written in English.
Do we charge cancellation Fees?
You may receive a refund of your booking fee, minus any applicable cancellation fees. We do not charge cancellation fees for bookings cancelled more than 48 hours before pickup. Otherwise, for cancellations within or less than 48 hours of pickup, a fixed $75 cancellation fee will be applicable.
What happens if I return the vehicle late?
If you return the vehicle more than 1 hour after the drop-off time, you will be charged an additional full day’s fee. For example, if your rental is from 8:00 AM to 8:00 AM the next day, and you return it at 9:01 AM, the extra charge will apply. If you have any questions, please contact our customer service team.
In the event of an accident, what am I liable to pay?
In the event of an accident, your liability depends on the coverage option you selected. Here’s a quick summary:
- Standard Cover: You are liable for up to $5,000.
- $500 Damage Liability: Liability is reduced to $500.
- $0 Damage Liability: Liability is reduced to $0.

What is covered by your roadside assistance?
All vehicles are covered with 24-hour roadside assistance, provided by the relevant state automotive club. This includes all mechanical breakdowns. Roadside Assistance does not cover non-mechanical defects such as lost keys, keys locked in the vehicle, flat battery due to lights being left on etc. Costs charged can be obtained by contacting Customer Service on 1300 227 473.
What does Standard Liability Protection Cover?
All Alpha vehicles which are rented have comprehensive insurance with a standard liability that is applicable to renters that may be reduced with one of Alpha’s waiver options. For passenger vehicles (hatchbacks, sedans, family cars, SUVs, 8-seater vans and Utes) the standard liability is $5,000 for drivers over 21 years of age. What are the exclusions to liability waivers?
The following are not covered by the Total Protection Liability Waiver, Premium Protection Liability Waiver, or the Collision Damage Liability Waiver:
- Reversing damage
- Overhead damage
- Undercarriage damage
- Water damage
- Hail damage
- Negligence or Abuse
Please note that you will not have the benefit of Alpha’s insurance if the rental vehicle is driven on unsealed roads.
