1. John Forrest National Park
Named after the city’s first premier, John Forrest National Park is the oldest, and most famous park in Western Australia.
You can have a meal down by the picnic area, complete with barbie facilities. Once you’re full, you can take off from the picnic area and hike to one of its many bush trails. There’s Eagle View Trail, the longest in the park, and Glen Brook Dam Walk and the Railway Heritage Trail. Running out of choices is the last thing you’ll worry about in this park.
2. Walyunga National Park
Walyunga National Park surrounds 1800 hectares of the Darling Range. Here you can see the Avon River and the Brockman River merge to create the Swan River, the park’s biggest attraction. The river flows past a tree-lined valley with slippery rocks along the river edge.
The park is also home to the largest Aboriginal Campsite in Perth. The Aboriginals used the site as a meeting place for more than 6000 years, and its name is roughly translated as ‘happy place’. One cannot help but wonder that’s why a visit to this park is a must.
3. Serpentine National Park
Serpentine National Park has seen generations of Perth residents and tourists alike for the past century. It’s an easy drive from the city of Perth and is the perfect place for friends and families alike looking for a fun day out together.
There’s plenty of excellent views around the park including the main attraction, the Serpentine Falls. Arrive early in the morning and soothe your soul with the magnificent view paired with relaxing ambient sound from the waterfalls.
Another thing you can enjoy is bird watching. The park is home to more than a hundred bird species that will make beautiful additions to your bird book collection.

Other things you can come and see at Yanchep is the koala colony where you can see these furry little tree climbers in their natural habitat. Take part in an Aboriginal cultural experience where you can learn more about the way they lived their lives and so much more.
