While having some of the aridest parts of the continent, South Australia also has some of the most breathtaking sights, exquisite wines, and most exciting events in the land down under. From cheese to fashion, to carnival rides, to a myriad of workshops and attractions, South Australia is going to be buzzing and action-packed this 2016. Here are a few events you should miss:

South Australian Living Arts Festival

If there’s one thing the south has no shortage of, except for wine, it’s talent in the visual arts. The 1998 established festival called South Australian Living Arts Festival (also known as SALA) is a testament to that. Be mesmerized as visual arts in all forms from over 3000 artists are showcased across 500 venues around the state. Don’t miss out on this one of a kind journey to some of this year’s most significant collections.

The South Australian Living Arts Festival starts on the 1st and ends at the 31st of August.

Royal Adelaide Show
Experience the most extensive and longest-running community event in SA’s calendar. There’s loads of fun to be had for people of all ages. Bring along your friends and head show to show for an awesome weekend. Grab the girls and shop around for the quirkiest trinkets and handicrafts you can find. Let the kids run and play at the carnival rides, attractions, animal shows, and so much more. When your legs grow weary, and you need to take a break, taste your way through the many food stalls to gain all of that energy back. You’re sure to end the night with a sparkly and glitzy bang from the nightly fireworks display.

The Royal Adelaide Show runs from the 2nd through the 11th of September in Adelaide. For news, directions, and more information, check out the show.

Adelaide Fashion Festival
Move over Paris, New York, and Milan because Adelaide is about to show you how to glam it up — south style. Gather ’round with fellow designers and fashion lovers as, for the 8th year, we celebrate South Australia’s growing fashion industry in one glittering event. From daily wearables to haute couture, designs from both up-and-coming and established South Australian designers are going to be fashion-forward and tres tres chic. More than fantastic fashion, you get to see the best of South Australian creativity with everything from hair, makeup, photography, food, wine, and set design with the beautiful city as its backdrop.

The Adelaide Festival runs each October – check out the lastest on venues, designers, and more information and then make your travel plans.

There’s so much to do in Adelaide, so why not make the most of your trip and hire a car. There are loads to choose from, so getting a car shouldn’t be a problem. Be sure to bring along some sunscreen, water, snacks, your favourite tunes, and a few good mates for a fun-filled South Australian holiday.
